The Safety and Security Systems Group, based in University Park, IL is a division of Federal Signal Corporation, a $1.2B company. This division designs and manufactures a suite of products and integrated solutions for municipal, governmental and industrial customers.

We are currently seeking an Electronic Engineer for our Industrial Systems Group located in University Park, Illinois.

Typical duties for this position would include:

•Apply intensive, timely, and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in areas of assignments and related fields.
•Assist in making decisions on engineering problems and methods.
•Require the use of techniques and the modification and extension of theories and practices of own field and related science disciplines.
•Develop solid-state microprocessor and IP based public address, intercoms, control and signaling systems in an industrial environment.
•Develop electronic schematics and PCB layouts of new products.
•Summarize research and development work in a report and specification.
•Conduct feasibility studies and prepares preliminary cost estimates of new products and major redesigns.
•Assist Manufacturing engineering in product assembly techniques.
•Assist in generating detail specifications of the individual components of the new design and replacements.

Requirements for this position include:

•BSEE degree from an accredited university.
•Must have a minimum of 1 to 2 years experience designing solid state and embedded systems for industrial products and systems.
•Experience with 8/16/32 bit microprocessors, FPGA/CPLD devices, and light analog circuitry.
•Possess an understanding of board level digital hardware design to ensure signal integrity and low EMI/FRI.
•Ability to write microprocessor software and device firmware programs using C, C++, Visual C++, or PicBasic.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Demonstrates ability with RF design techniques for IP based wireless control and monitoring and debugging EMI/RFI suppression techniques at the board level is desired.
