Job Description: Travel to clients locations in the Chicago area, work from headquarters, or work from home as needed. Assist a variety of small and midsize businesses to maintain computer networks powered by Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, MS Exchange 2003 Server, and .NET servers. Work extensively with client's IS staff or deliver full-service IT outsourced services. Key areas of expertise include Exchange-based email, Active Directory design, security, network monitoring, and system infrastructure. Support and troubleshoot Windows Server 2003-based computer networks. Work in person and remotely to analyze and fix both urgent and lingering problems related to availability, security, capacity, accessibility, and overall capability. Deploy, configure and integrate MS Windows-powered program hosts and MS .NET servers. Configure and integrate Microsoft Windows 2K, Microsoft Windows XP, and MS Windows Vista workstation environments. Configure and evaluate various information services and application programs. Plan IT infrastructures and security strategies that support client's business growth. Support and administer MS Outlook client with back-end Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Office suite, phone communications, and high-speed Internet connection. Design and implement upgrades to Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server, Active Directory, and MS Exchange 2003 Server. Maximize network uptime and throughput through non-stop configuration, efficient system infrastructure, and proactive network monitoring. Produce on-going records of the network as it expands. Specify and procure additional server and communications hardware and/or software to accommodate growth and new applications. Required Work Experience: Microsoft Certified System Engineer or equivalent experience, proven analysis and diagnostic ability and interpersonal skills, and the knowledge to implement temporary patches to technical issues. Understand how to troubleshoot software issues including desktop application integration issues, server trouble, data service difficulties, and connectivity issues. Willingness to exchange information with clients and colleagues and to escalate problems to additional engineers when necessary. Ability to operate efficiently in a virtual office environment, providing reliable follow-through and using online connectivity and mobile communications. Experience with automated network monitoring tools and remote repair methodologies.
